Information regarding proposed relocation of Bush Hill Park Medical Centre to Lincoln Road Medical Practice ( posted on Jan 30, 2019 )

It has been proposed by NHS England that Bush Hill Park Medical Centre (BHPMC) relocates to the first floor of the building that at present houses Lincoln Road Medical Practice (LRMP). Below is some information for patients regarding a relocation.

Proposed Location

LRMP is currently located on Lincoln Road. It is about 1.1km/0.7 miles away from BHPMC which equates to about a 15 minute walk.

The building is a two floor purpose built modern health centre. It currently houses LRMP on the ground floor and the InHealth North London Diagnostic Centre (which offers services like ECG, xray and ultrasound) on the 1st floor. LRMP provides GP services for their registered patients whilst InHealth provides diagnostic services to the whole Enfield community. The building also holds community outpatient clinics for Enfield patients during the week which is run by hospital consultants. There is a patient lift available to access the first floor.

Buses that stop near to LRMP are 192 (Lincoln Road exit bus at Roman Way), 217 and 231 (A10 exit bus at Lincoln Road junction) and 121, 191, 307, 317, and 313 (Southbury Road, exit bus at Kingsmead School/Cinema, cross Southbury Road and walk down Southbury Avenue).

The nearest train station is Bush Hill Park Rail Station (London Overground) which is about a 12 minute walk via St Mark's Road.

Parking for patients at LRMP is free with available spaces on the neighbouring residential roads, e.g. Lincoln Road, Southbury Avenue and Clive Road.

Current Location

BHPMC is currently based in a specially converted and extended residential house located at the junction between Melbourne Way and Haileybury Avenue. It is a two floor building. Patients are only seen on the ground level.

Buses that stop near to BHPMC are 192 (St Marks Road exit bus at Bush Hill Park Rail Station/Sainsburys), 377 (Trinity Avenue) and 217 and 231 (A10 exit bus at Trinity Avenue junction).

The nearest train station is Bush Hill Park Rail Station (London Overground) which is about a 3 minute walk.

Parking for patients at BHPMC is free with available spaces on the neighbouring residential roads, e.g. Melbourne Way, Haileybury Avenue and Harrow Avenue. However there are parking restrictions on Monday to Friday 1pm to 2pm on parts of Melbourne Way and Haileybury Avenue where a resident parking permit is required.

Regardless of location, BHPMC will keep the current practice of book on the day morning appointments and pre-bookable afternoon appointments with patients seeing a BHPMC doctor in the first instance.

BHPMC is currently in the process of joining Medicus Health Partners (an Enfield based GP led super-partnership currently made up of 13 Practices). More details for patients regarding this will follow in the near future but this change is expected to formally occur from the 1st April 2019.

One of the benefits that this new partnership will provide is the ability for patients to book an appointment with either a GP or a Practice Nurse at one of the other Medicus GP sites should BHPMC be fully booked, e.g. Lincoln Road Medical Practice or Forest Road Primary Care Centre. In the event that BHPMC does relocate to LRMP, it would therefore be more convenient for our patients to see the LRMP healthcare staff as it would be less disruption with regards to travelling.

We understand that a relocation of BHPMC may have some significant impact for some of our patients. We therefore would appreciate as much feedback (both good and bad) as possible from our patients regarding this to help with this decision.

Please complete the short patient survey at reception regarding the relocation. If you have any further comments that you wish to express then please feel free to hand in an additional letter with your views to reception.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

On Wednesday 15th August 2018 the Practice will be changing the computer system which manages the patient medical records. We therefore anticipate some disruptions to patient services during the whole month of August and would like to provide you with the following information and advice:

  • Patients who hand in a repeat prescription from Tuesday 2nd July to Friday 3rd August will be automatically issued two months supply unless the GP orders otherwise.
  • Any repeat prescriptions handed in between Thursday 9th August to Tuesday 14th August will not be issued until Wednesday 15th August when the new computer system is installed. If you require your medications earlier then you will need to see the GP for the prescription to be issued.

  • From Thursday 9th August till Friday 17th August all appointments will only be available to be booked on the day. This can be done via the phone or in person at Reception.
  • Patients currently registered with on-line services will be unable to use their accounts to request prescriptions or book appointments from 7pm on Wednesday 8th August. If a patient wishes to continue with on-line services from the 15th August then they will need to re-register with the new computer system - please ask at Reception for further details.
  • Appointments unfortunately may be running later than usual throughout August as the new computer systems are installed and as staff become more experienced with the new procedures. We would therefore advise that patients allow enough time in their day to accommodate for any delays at the Practice.
  • From Thursday 9th August to Wednesday 15th August we kindly request that patients only attend to see the GP for urgent medical problems due to delays and complications we anticipate with changing the computer systems. For routine appointments, e.g. BP/Diabetes/COPD reviews, immunisations, smear tests, etc., we kindly request if patients can book to see the GP after the 15th August.

Test Results

We will experience a longer delay than usual to receive blood test results, scan reports and NHS 111 reports from Monday 6th August. Please contact Reception after Monday 20th August for any results if you've not heard anything from the Practice before then.

  • We will unfortunately be unable to register any new patients from Wednesday 1st August to Friday 31st August. The only exceptions will be new-born babies to parents already registered with the Practice – please ask at Reception for further details.
  • We will be unable to update any patient details between Thursday 9th August to Wednesday 15th August. If you wish to change any details on your medical records then please inform us either before the 9th August or after 15th August.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause as we update our computer systems to provide better patient care for the future. We therefore thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during this time.
